VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.desktop in Flex/AIR

Error #1014 arises when a certain class is not found. In this case, flash.desktop class is not allowed to be accessed. To resolve this, add the following line to your descriptor file.

<supportedProfiles>extendedDesktop</supportedProfiles>

Also, make sure that you are using Air 2.0 view the namespace above to ensure that you are using 2.0 and not 1.X version. The namespace should be something similar to:
